Annual Conch Shell Blowing Contest – March 2024 10AM Entry/ 12PM Contest

Celebrate the historical significance of the Conch Shell on the island of Key West. This unique contest is held at Key West’s Oldest House Museum & Garden, 322 Duval Street. Contestants test their Conch blowing prowess by creating music with a conch shell. Free and open to all ages, the annual Conch Blowing contest is a Key West tradition that spans over 60 years.

Bars and Parties

There’s a party every night of the year here in Key West and during spring break it’s especially lively on Duval Street and Mallory Square. Street performers are out and it’s easy to find live music and dancing at Key West’s many bars. Unlike other spring break destinations, Key West is not overrun with college kids. The soul of Key West is ever present and mixes well with the fun and excitement of spring break.

Beaches and Snorkeling

In March, it gets hotter in Key West and the ocean warms up. The beaches of Key West aren’t overcrowded and there is a variety of snorkeling options in the water surrounding Key West. Key West is full of nice spots to relax and work on your tan.  There are also many boating excursions to take you to sandbars and through mangroves.

Key West is known for its artistic vibe and professional theater, outdoor and indoor concerts and live music venues and its art galleries and museums. 

March Merkin Invitational Permit Tournament 

Key West is famous for fishing. In March, anglers participate in the March Merkin Invitational Permit Tournament, a charity flats-and-fly-only tournament, held at the Key West Yacht Harbor Marina on Stock Island.  This event includes a kick-off dinner and a silent auction. Spots are limited, so get your application in ASAP.
