Key West's Biggest Fishing Tournament

Founded in 1965, the Key West Fishing Tournament is an annual fishing competition that runs from January to August. Throughout 2024, anglers will compete from boats, land, piers, and bridges around Key West. Special attention is paid to the size and species of fish. Fish are tracked by entering weighed and released fish for no charge. Top awards include Outstanding Angling Achievement, Master Angler, and Sportsmanship Award. To support the health of Key West's fisheries, the Key West Fishing Tournament encourages the release of game fish.

Easily Enter Your Fishing Division

The Key West Fishing Tournament (KWFT) has four distinct divisions: Men, Women, Junior (age 10-15), and Peewee (under 10). Awards are given in each division. Anglers win awards for the heaviest fish of 33 species in 9 different line classes. In addition, there are three ‘artificial’ (no bait) divisions: Spin, Plug, and Fly. 

Key West’s Master Angler

The top award at the Key West Fishing Tournament is the Master Angler, a title that is given to both in-county and out-of-county residents. For Barracuda, Blue Marlin, Bonefish, Dolphinfish, Permit, Sailfish, Tarpon, there is a Most Releases title.
