Great location, just half a block off Duval Street, walking distance to restaurants, the Atlantic beaches and the Southernmost Point. Casually decorated in soft pine and white, wicker furnishings and sofa sleeper in living room, this four bedroom, three and a half bath home provides a comfortable vacation hideaway. All bedrooms and two baths are located on the second floor. The dining area and kitchen are downstairs and french doors open to a deck with an ample pool. This home is an excellent choice for family reunions and larger groups. Bedding: 1 king, 1 queen, 1 double, 2 twins, 1 sleeping sofa
The house has an amazing location, but the mold is terrible. The ceiling in the living room leaked water from the shower above onto the couch. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. The house needs a lot of work. The pool and backyard were great however. I would not rent this house again.
The master bathroom is currently being renovated which will fix the leak. The house also experienced a major 'deep' clean. This is a great family home with lots of room and large backyard. As these past guest commented the yard and pool are large and great for b-b-que's and relaxing. Off street parking is also provided.
House was great, but needs considerable repairs. Lots of rot especially the bathroom hardwood floors. The master shower floor looks to be getting dangerously weak. The water damage is now running down the wall into the 1st floor living room. It looks to me to be a major repair now and it is quickly going to be a safety issue to the guests. Internet: we could not connect with the password given and reported it to the staff at RentKW to confirm the password. We were going to reset the wireless router but never found it. Disappointing as some needed to do work and had to go out to a cafe. RentKW staff great to deal with. I would rent this house again as the good outweighs the bad.
My husband and I choose to spend part of our two week honeymoon in Key West with friends and we couldn't be happier with that decision. Louisa House is in an awesome location with a coffee shop and great breakfast place right on the corner. We spent a lot of time in the pool and relaxing around the large table out back. The house is fully equipped with plenty of towels. We picked up the essentials for our stay which worked out great. Don't forget toilet paper and paper towels! The house is so charming and they rooms are nice and cool!!
We stayed at Louisa House with 8 adults, and 1 infant. The large living areas were quite convenient.. large dining/kitchen area and large living room made for a comfortable place to socialize. The pool and deck were great! Plenty of shade and sun. I would advise to check and make sure you have propane for the gas grill when you arrive.. we didn't realize it was empty until we were ready to grill the steaks, and it was too late to call the office. Kitchen was well supplied-plenty of plates, glassware, forks, etc. Even had a blender, coffee maker, and wine and martini glasses. If you are a cook bring your own knives. Plenty of patio furniture, a large patio dining table, and a covered sitting area (great for the occasional rain shower). The house was very clean on the surfaces (beds, bathrooms, kitchen, floors), and that's where it matters most. However, the house could definitely use a 'detailed' cleaning, as many of the a/c vents and moldings appear mildewy and dusty. The floors around the tub/showers upstairs are partially rotted, and just makes you think that you are breathing in some mold. But the imperfect nature of the house is part of the charm of old Key West.. if you want modern luxury, stay at the large hotels. The location was perfect.. on the quiet end of Duvall Street (one block off Duvall).. only the roosters were noisy. All of the interior doors are louvered.. so a bit lacking in privacy when you're in the bathroom or bedrooms. Everyone heard the baby if he cried at night. Overall we had a fantastic time, and would highly recommend staying in this house.
The house was perfect and big enough for eight. The backyard looked like an oasis; beautiful palm trees shaded the pool. The location was also great. Closer to the quite end of Duval, but within walking distance to all of the action. We ended up staying 4 extra days.
we all had a enjoyable time at the Louisa House. The house was great, washer and dryer were a huge help and the deck and pool were a huge "fun spot" the beach being 2 blocks away was a real factor with staying here as well. we had a difficult time getting into the house. Called the emergency number and did not hear back for over two hours so that was a bit annoying but all in all...we would all consider staying here again.
We really liked the house. We loved how open the downstairs was. The beds were comfortable. There were great views from all the windows. Great location for walking to many places in Key West. Down side - with the louvered doors it does not allow for much privacy in the bedrooms or bathrooms. Also, the house could use a few more pots and pans for cooking - maybe even a griddle.
I have been living in South Florida for 5 years and have made a trip down to Key West every year with friends. This was one of the best times we've had down here in part because of these accomodations. The house was spacious. The outside pool was in a nice shady spot (although we did have to watch out for the falling mangoes). It was a nice relaxing weekend and relatively cheap when compared to renting hotel rooms for the weekend. We had 3 couples and a couple of friends and the house had more than enough room to fill us. It's located a block from Duval street, which gave us easy access to the debauchery of Key West. I would stay here again.
We went with friends to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. The location is great, the pool was great and very private. I cannot tell you what a great time we had. We will be going back back to this house.
The house is conveniently located to Duval Street, great restaurants and there was no need to drive. The house itself needs some work inside such as master bathroom floor and shower to name a few but all and all it was clean and we had a wonderful time!
The house really is great. Great location, near Southernmost Point, Duval (but far enough away from most of the high-energy bars), convenient liquor store on Simonton, etc. The house was in need of major repairs though. Bathrooms could use overhaul and the bedroom/bathroom doors were slatted, which meant reduced privacy. The pool/deck were terrific; by far, we spent most of our time there. We even grilled out ... the grill is precarious but works. Minor glitches included broken (or breaking) patio furniture and broken microwave (Key West Rentals replaced it right away though!). Overall, a great experience ... would love to see the place maintained better though, even if it costs more to stay there!
We enjoyed staying at 521 Louisa. We found the house to be close enough to the action to be convenient but far enough away to be nice and quiet. We chose the house based solely on pictures and description and were pleasantly surprised by how nice it was when we got there. There were more than enough kitchen/cooking supplies to allow us to cook for group for the entire stay. Our only two problems were 1. the shower upsatirs leaked through the floor if the door wasn't shut completely and the knives were so painfully dull that it made chopping anything difficult.
we had the best time in key west and the house was in the best location... the house was very clean..and ALOT of room. the house does need some repairs!!! but its not big stuff..... the one thing i would like to say is that all the inside doors are louver doors that u can hear everything...... but over all i would stay again for sure. nashville
This is the third year we have rented the Louisa street home. We always have a wonderful time when in Key West. What we like best about the home is that it is very spacious, and has its own private pool! The location is excellent, as it is located in Old Town on a quiet street, but still within easy walking distance to all of the fun restaurants, shops, as well as many historic places including Hemingway House, and the little White house. The Rent Key west staff is always friendly and helpful as well. We definitely plan on returning again!
Highly Recommended. Pool and outdoor area large for many houses in Key West. Great location on the island! Did a ton of research to find the perfect home, size, location and value. This house had it all.
The house needed some repairs which we reported. It needed some work but we enjoyed Key West very much. It was our first time there. We will be back again. We hope the few repairs that Louisa st. house needed will be made because we would like to stay there.Location was good. Pool was nice. Was comfortable for the 7 people that stayed there.
We loved everything about the house! The pool was fantastic, the location was very convenient, and the rental staff was a wonderful group of people. We will definitely be back next April
I have stayed at the Louisa House 3 times in the past 10 years and I love it. The only issue I ever had was in December, 2006 the pool heater wasn't working until the day we had to leave and living in Chicago with the cold and snow we were really looking forward to using the heated pool every day and night. The Management company didn't really seem to be trying to get the heater fixed too quickly and we weren't able to use the pool at all that week. We were given a 10% discount on our next trip for the inconvenience, but we really needed that pool. I only hope the next time it will be working as well as the other 2 times I stayed there. The house itself is beautiful. It has 4 bedrooms and comfortably sleeps 8-10 adults. The kitchen has french double doors that open up to the back deck and the pool. The pool area is private thanks to the palm trees and shrubbery that surrounds the house. The house is located 1/2 block off Duval, the main street in town where all the shops and bars are, but it's far enough away from the really roudy bars so that it's always quiet and peaceful. All in all, you can't beat the location, it's the best of both worlds, close enough to walk everywhere and far enough away from the crowds and noise that you don't realize you're that close. The locals are very friendly and ready to offer directions whenever needed. Everything you need is just a 5 minute car ride away: grocery stores, shopping, airport, beaches. It's a wonderful experience that I recommend to everyone I know. I will be back at the Louisa House again, so please, fix the pool heater.
We rented the house for lodging for our Daughter's wedding in Key West. There were 8 of us that stayed there (4 couples) and it was great! Great location, just off Duval but in the quiet area and not far from the hussle and bussel if you want it. We had plenty of room, although the bedrooms are small. Also, the bathrooms could use abit of updating. Pool area right off the kitchen/dining room was wonderful...had coffee in the pool every morning!
We were very impressed with house the inside was great. the pool was perfect .great location Very clean and nicely keeped. Thanks for a great stay.Jerry Coleman
The pictures we viewed online of the Louisa House did NOT do it justice. Inside it was amazingly roomy, clean and flowed very well for our group of 6 adults and one child. We ate our Thanksgiving meal outside by the pool and the pictures we have of that meal would be worthy to be included in any home and garden magazine. Very beautiful and memorable. We enjoyed the pool and the outdoor patio every morning and evening. We needed maintenance assistance with the pool one day and got an immediate response. We were very pleased with the service we received while we were there. It was convenient to walk to most places from this property, if you like to walk. If not then taxi's were easy enough to find. The only unpleasant things about the house were the upstairs bathroom door, which was louvered making privacy literally impossible. . .especially if someone was coming up the stairs. This problem is easily remedied by hanging a sheet on the inside of the door. The other unpleasntry was the sofa bed, which no one should EVER have to sleep upon again. A few cautions that should be observed whenever traveling to any tourist destination would be to lock your car doors at all times, even if you're just coming into the house for a moment. And also lock the front door of your rental, even if you're sitting outback on the patio. Someone in our party forgot to lock their car doors one evening and found it rummaged through the next morning. Overall we unanamously agreed that this was a good house for our party of 7.
great location, walking distance to duval and centrally located for shopping and fishing excursions. House in good condition, a bit pricey but comfortable.
This wonderful property had everything for a perfect vacation for our family, including our four grown children and their spouses (plus our pups)! Well appointed, gourgeously landscaped and most comfortable, we enjoyed every minute. The location was an easy walk to everywhere we wanted to go and the pool and great backyard were a nice place to enjoy our time together.
This is the second time I have stayed at this house and we have loved it both times. The house is within walking distance to everything we needed and wanted to do and offered many amentities. The pool area is very nice and the house is very spacious. The only downfall is I wish the pool area had more than 2 lounge chairs and that the trees were cut back a little more so some sunshine could come through. We enjoy staying at the Louisa Street house and plan to do so again in the future.
