Welcome to the Beach!!!! No this house isn't oceanfront! But in Key West almost anything is possible. This house has just been transformed into a relaxed beach house with many updates & upgrades. New furniture, cabinets and appliances as well as a redecorating of everything including the garden to make this a great vacation show place.
Enter the house with gingerbread touches on the exterior to see a Key West mural by local artist Rick Worth. The downstairs of the house feature the open living room, dining room and adjacent kitchen all leading to the back yard with a comfy sitting area on the back porch or lounge by the pool. There are two master suites downstairs. One with a dressing/desk area and bath ensuite. The touches of color are everywhere and make this a great retreat.
Upstairs, through a separate entrance, you enter a fabulous studio with queen bed and twin trundle lounge sitting area. Tucked behind a louvered wall is another sleeping area with queen bed. With the addition of a refrigerator, microwave and full bath on this floor, it's like having two houses in one.
The house is priced for eight people, but there is plenty of room for up to 11 guests. The outdoor pool area offers terrific sun in the morning and a lovely cooling shade in late afternoon. So enjoy the day in a great escape!

This house was beyond our expectations. We were a family of two adult children and ourselves plus one grandchild. Our daughter, her husband and 5 year old son stayed upstairs. Our other daughter stayed downstairs. There was plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen was equipped well for basic cooking. We did cook breakfast most mornings and one dinner. The only challenge was the grill. After buying steaks and seafood to prepare for dinner, we went to start the grill and found the propane empty! This house is very conveneient to everything we wanted to do. It is a long walk to the wharf area but we like to walk. If you want to go to Smathers Beach you must take a taxi. I highly recommend using Hip Tourist to provision your groceries and /or spirits. They were also wonderful!
Our Amelia's Great Escape house is wonderful for family getaways as these guests experienced. When it comes to propane and gas grills, just give our office a call when the tank is empty and we will replace it with a full tank at no expense.
We rented this for our family to celebrate my parents 50th anniversary. It's close to old town. the beaches, and other activities. The family also enjoyed hanging around the pool, and having a cookout.
The house was absolutely perfect. The location was close to the beack and perfect walking distance to all the action. We enjoyed the pool and the covered porch and found ourselves gathering there each morning and evening. It was terrific having a washer/dryer available so that we could have clean linen at our disposal. We can't wait to visit again!
We stayed in this house the week of Fantasy Fest with four couples. We weren't expecting much out of a Key West house but it exceeded our expectations! You can tell it is recently redecorated. The bedrooms were all comfortable but I would advise that the downstairs bedroom to the right has no curtains on the windows so if you like to sleep in, this is not the bedroom for you. I would also advise to make sure all doors (two front, upstairs, sliding back and sliding side door) are all locked at night and when you leave. We had a random drunk guy walk into the house at four in the morning Tuesday and one during the day on Friday...but it was Fantasy Fest so no huge surprise. I wish it was closer to the other end of Duval...we took a lot of taxi rides!!
We liked this house, close to everything but quietly tucked out of the busy street. No car needed, we walked everwhere...i recommend.
Pros: friendly staff who was very helpful--one of the air conditioners in the bedroom was broken, they fixed it within 40 minutes Very spacious, open floor plan, plenty of sleeping areas Secluded, private location, close to a lot of action but far enough off thenmain street to enjoy peace and quiet Kitchen well equipped with everything you need Beach towels, bath towels and bed linens were plentiful Washer and dryer right on property Outside patio are was amazing Personal pool which is a plus Cons: there is a lot of foliage around the pool so it could get a little "leafy" at times, be prepared to clean it at least 2-3 times per day Extra $25 per day to heat the pool Be prepared to purchase citronella candle for outdoor, night sitting There are small little bugs (ants) in the bathroom, bring toothbrush covers and clean kitchen nightly I stayed with 5 other friends and we had an amazing time!!!
Thanks for the great review, Tiara! As with any house in the subtropics you will encounter some insects. The best way to avoid them is to keep all food items stored in tupperware or in the refrigerator.
My wife and I, 3 grown sons and their girlfriends and my 90 year old dad stayed for a week and had all the togetherness and privacy needed. The upstairs studio like apartment worked out great even though they were a little close together it was set up to afford as much privacy as possible. Large farmers table perfect for the big meals together, kitchen worked well and had all we needed. Sliders to patio and deck gave a great view of outside. Patio and deck great for lounging and relaxing. The pool was just the right size! We had a great time and even had additional family members for brunch and there was plenty of room!
loved this place, traveled with children they couldnt get enough of the pool i thought it was a very spacious and inviting house loved everything about it cant wait to go back again!!!
We just returned from our vacation in Key West with our adult children and grandchild. Amelia's Great Escape was a great rental that met most of our expectations. The location was great, less than a block off Duval so we could walk almost everywhere. The property wa clean and comfortable and tastefully decorated. The outside was wonderful and we spent most ofoour time relaxing, reading and using the pool which was ideal for our grandaughter who is 9 months old. Somethings on our wish list if we would return is a better equipped kitchen as we did eat some meals in with an infant. We've rented many homes before, but strange that they had 3 blenders but no bowls, two sets of dishware, but lack of some basic prep tools. Perhaps should check out Homeaway's check-list for rental homes. Gardens in back are very nice and it is very private, but could use some trimming and some work on wood deck surfaces. Found toys and cans in the overgrown foilage. Although we were informed-no place to park anything near the property and we received a parking ticket when we were unloading groceries. But overall the property is great and Rent Key West did a great job! We had 10 days of sunny weather with temps in the hig 70's to low 80's.
Had a great time, enjoyed the house, the pool, the kitchen, the location. We reported problems with the barbeque, toaster and ironing board, and they were all 3 replaced within 24 hours. Afterwards, my granddaughter asked her mother, "Can we go visit grandma and grandpa again and swim in their pool?"
I stayed at this house with my 4 sisters and 2 cousins and there was so many beds only 2 of us actually had to share. We loved the decor of the house and the great location, just steps away from Duval Street. My only complaint was that the pool wasnt cleaned for the first 2 and a half days that we were there.
Great place to stay! The house was very clean, comfortable and close to everything. Fully stocked with enough towels for the pool and anything else you might need... had a great time!
This was a great place to stay. We had 2 other couples staying with us so it was perfect. Everyone had thier own room and bathroom. My husband and I stayed upstairs which had a separate entrance, 2 full size beds and a day bed. The upstairs would definitely be great for a family. The pool was great to cool off from the august heat, just big enough for all 6 of us. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again!
This house was great, the back yard with the deck and pool was unbelievable.Very differnt layout to house but i mean that in good way, it had everything we needed and then some. I would definately stay here again and again, the location is perfect right at the end of a dead end street, and 150 feet from Duvall Street, location,location location!
Brad at rental company is very friendly and coorporative. The house was everything it stated and more. Great Location off of Duval Street a few blocks west of the Southern most point. Quiet area except for the Rooster waking you up but we got use to it easily. House clean and amentities accomadating. Pool was clean and heated while we were there GOOD THING it got cool at night. We were there for a week with 4 couples in all. The bedrooms downstairs were separted each having its own bathroom. One room off of the kitchen and one off of the livingroom. The 2 rooms upstairs were separted by a louvered wall. Could hear each other but it was muffled. 3 bedrooms had their own tv. I would stay here again. If you are bringing your family this would also be a good home to use. There was a pull out couch and an extra fouton bed upstairs. oh the upstairs has a bathroom also. Thank you Rent Key West Vac for a memorialable time. See you again in the future.
Amelia's Great Escape was nice,clean and cozy. However, when booking this rental I thought it was four bedrooms, but the upstairs was a large room with a 3/4 divider between the beds. I also paid for a heated pool, which had to be turned on the day we arrived by staff which took about another day to warm up. The rental staff were very helpful and easy to work with. I would recommend this unit, however be clear that it is NOT 4 seperate bedrooms. Laundry facilities were outside and very inconvenient to reach the dials.
Everything at Amelia's Great escape was awesome! My only complaints are those crazy roosters, and a hot tub would be a great addition. Other than that....AWESOME!
The house is great, every thing is there you need. The pool is awesome. Full kitchen, nice bed rooms, and great living room. The location is good. Quiet at night, close to Duval st. Close to the Beach and night life. I would rent this house again.

Our family came for Christmas and stayed At Amelia's Great Escape! It was truly a great escape! Great house, great pool, and great location! We would highly reccommend this place! It was terrific! We were able to spread out. The one and only drawback was the openness of one of the bedrooms right off the living room. That made it a little tough for some to sleep in. But, overall...it was terrific!
This house is in a great location and the price was nice... The layout was very weird. I phoned Brad at Key West rentals prior to booking the house. Our group had 4 couples and I wanted to make sure we would all had our own bedroom, the web description was not clear. I was told that it was a 4 bedroom with queen beds. Well it is a 4 bedroom, but 1 bedroom had a twin bed with a roll out. The bedroom upstairs had 2 queens with a separate entrance from downstairs with the smallest shower I have ever used.. and I have been on cruises. If you enter the house downstairs you have to walk through a bedroom to get to the living room kitchen area. We rented scooters, enjoyed the pool, loved the grill and use of washer/dryer and had a great time, not a lot of privacy but a great time.
There were seven of us, a magnificent seven, who travelled to Key West for our graduation trip - having just graduated from medical school. We were thrilled when we arrived after a grueling 16hrs of traveling. Amelia's is a bit hard to find though, but our trusty Taxi driver had little trouble finding the place, once we figured out which end of the street we were on. The house was really nice. Plenty of space. Everything was provided, towels, linens etc. There was a great kitchen with 2 large fridges. A great porch with a BBQ, furniture, an outdoor laundry machine and the fantastic pool. So lovely and cool for the sizzling afternoon in Key West. We had payed for the pool heating, but on the first day decided that we wouldn't need it, and the good folks at Rent Key West gave us the money right back. We spent countless hours hanging out in the pool, relaxing, enjoying the sun, and the shade. We had very few problems, but the little trouble we had the people at Rent Key West took care of, always on the same day. The location is very good. Right off Duval street, the walk down to the main pier is around 15- 20minutes, with loads of restaurants, shops and bars on the way - plenty of stuff to keep you occupied while walking. We really liked the house as a whole, the pool, BBQ and the location. The house could have been a little bit cleaner when we arrived, but it was hardly anything to mention. All in all a top notch place.
