Perfect Spot in Key West!

Reviewed by: klvd1979 on 6/1/2010

I travel quite a bit for work and, in the past, have gone the route of booking a hotel for my accommodations. I am so glad I chose to stay in a vacation rental home while down in Key West. Price wise, I paid about the same as I would have if I stayed at my typical spot down there (Sheraton). The location of the house was perfect... only a half block off of Duval and a few blocks from the beach. I could easily walk to where ever I needed to go. Restaurants and CVS were all within a short walk so even though I had a rental car, I barely used it. Since parking is a bit limited, I was ok with leaving my car in front of the house so I didn't have to fight for a spot. The house itself was very charming and well decorated; full of character. There was a small pool in the back yard but due to all the folliage, very little sunlight made it through the palm trees... great if you are looking for a spot to read but not someplace you'd hang out at if you wanted to get a tan. There was a washer/drye

This house made our vacation that much more fun and relaxing. While we were worried that all properties on Key West were small, this house ended up being absolutely perfect for 2 families with little kids (4 adults, 2 kids and 2 infants). The infants fit into the bedrooms in a Pack-N-Play and a crib just fine, each kid had their own bed, And the parents had their own rooms (with infants in our case). The kitchen was perfectly functional with all the appliances to make vacation easy. The living room was relaxing and opens right up to the pool. The staircase is open, which wasn't an issue for the older kids, and we rented child gates from a company on the island to keep the infants away from the stairs. The kids loved the pool which was very clean when we arrived, and a pool guy came in the middle of the week to clean it again. The property was located where we were looking for, half a block from Duval street where there is a fantastic coffee shop and brea

We really liked the house, it was nicely decorated, very cute. We would probably stay there again but the pool doesn't really get any sun so we had to leave the property when we wanted to sunbath. One of the things we enjoy about renting a house is being able to sit by the pool with our friends, get some sun and have the convinience of the house/bathroom only a few steps away.

Louisa House was a great stay for us, great quiet location. The only negative is lack of sun in the pool area other than that it was perfect.

Two couples and a 2-year-old spent a magical weekend in this lovely, well designed house, enjoying the lovely secret garden with its tiny pool and eating their way through a mountain of food prepared in the well-stocked kitchen. The upstairs bedrooms connect via a bathroom with doors on either ends, making it the prefect family suite. The downstairs bedroom is a little small but very well designed and has its own bathroom. Unfortunately (and this is why the house only gets 4 stars), there is a party house right across the street and - because the bedrooms face the street - the loud, badly preformed renditions of tacky rock-and-roll standards (think "mustang sally" with shout-outs to all the Sallys in the audience do filter in through the windows. The house was incredibly well-appointed, down to the pool towels stacked neatly by the back door. We were all very sad to leave (the fact that we had to be out by 10 Am sharp was another minor annoyance) and would stay there again tomorrow.

We had a wonderful time while staying at the Coconut Cabana in July 2008. Great location in old town Key West. The home is beautifully decorated; relaxing by the private pool was great. Don't miss the Banana Cafe a few steps from the home. We rented bikes and explored all of Key West. Best beach - Ft.Zachary Taylor - hands down!! Great service from the friendly folks at Rent Key West. Hope to return soon.

My family including a 18 month old stayed her for 10 days and it was awesome. I'd highly recommend this house and Rent Key West. This house is at the quiet end of Duval so perfect for our family's needs and just a short walk to all you travel to Key West for (Duval St, beach, boat & jet ski rentals, etc).

This is a wonderful home loaded with charm. The house is tastefully decorated with a wonderful pool area that is secluded and relaxing. It is in a perfect location which is close to all you want to do in Key West, but also far enough so that you can get away from it all.

My whole family stayed a week at Coconut Cabana in March and had a wonderful time. There were 5 adults and 1 child and we all had a comfortable stay. The pool was great, a little shady but very pleasant. We were able to grill out fresh fish from the market by the pool at dinner time but the house still has a great location to other restaurants. The house is very close to the beach at the end of Duval street. I highly recommend this home!

We loved the Coconut Cabana, buy did have a couple of issues. First of all, the location was great. Close to everything, yet not too noisy. We loved that we had plenty of room to spread out, as we were travelling with our twin boys. Had we not had our boys with us who were crawling at the time, we might not ever had noticed that the floors were pretty much filthy. My idea of a good vacation does not involve having to mop the floors. The only other issues we encountered were a ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms that was broken and the oven wasn't working either. We did have a great time while staying here, and I would overall recommend a stay at the Coconut Cabana, I think they just have a couple of issues they could work on to make the house perfect!

We stayed at Coconut Cabana for our honeymoon and had an absolute blast! Great location! You can walk just about anywhere, but scooters are better. The house is a charming renovated historical home that makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in the door. The pool in the backyard is perfect after enjoying a hot summer day and is surrounded by beautiful foliage. Beds are comfortable, spacious showers, cozy furniture and unique decor. Our only negative experience was a lack of parking when the neighbors had company. Hopefully you won't have the same problem - It was a holiday weekend, afterall. The Rent Key West staff was awesome to work with. Very attentive and friendly. You're going to love this charming home! We didn't want to leave!!

Hello! what a great house and a great convenient location. The Coconut Cabana was quite a retreat from home. The accomodations are warm and inviting. We arrived for a fortieth birthday for 10 days and hated to say goodbye. The Coconut Cbana is located on a quiet street just off the main thoroughfare of Duval Street. Would love to return to Coconut Cabana for an even longer stay. I have already recommended this location and house to another friend who also loved the accomodations of Coconut Cabana. We will definitely return. Thank you Rent Key West Vacations for the excellent service, and recommendation to stay at Coconut Cabana.

We loved Coconut Cabana! This house was perfect for a "sibling celebration" of my brother's 50th birthday. The house was darling, well equiped and the entire rental process was smooth sailing. There is no place like Key West and this house just off Duval was just where we needed to be. We would highly recommend!

Loved the house. It provided a great base for our vacation. It was wonderful to relax in the pool twice a day at least. The backyard is a neat little oasis in the middle of a busy neighborhood. It is very private. The house is decorated and furnished very well. Like most of Key West, parking can be difficult. If I vacationed in Key West again, I would try to stay here.
