Bring the indoors out or the outdoors in, the main level of this home is loaded with french doors and windows to bring in lots of natural light. The living room opens onto the dining porch,complete with the gas grill. The large open living room with beautiful new oak floors features a sumptuous sofa to lounge on or if you can't quite getaway from the office entirely, a desk for you to get things complete so you can move on to more important things, like relaxing, spending time with family and friends or just laying by the pool.
The kitchen has been remodeled with new cabinets and countertops to provide you will all the comforts of home. Of course you don't have to cook, as there are two of Key West's best restaurants right around the corner...Cafe Marquesa and SaraBeth's. Two very different dining experiences but both worth the price.
There is a guest bedroom on the first level with queen bed and ensuite bathroom with a shower that doubles as the powder room for the house. Upstairs a large and bright Master Suite has a queen four poster bed and a large bath with double sinks and new tiled walk-in shower. French doors lead you out to second floor deck to catch some sun or perfect for an evening night cap under the stars. In case you want to have the kids close, the second bedroom upstairs has two twin beds and it's own bathroom with a tub. Both bedrooms upstairs have French doors that open up to the veranda overlooking the pool and the garden. You also get a great view into Nancy Forrester's Secret Garden!
Walk to near by restaurants and occasional evening entertainment or spend the day on the shaded verandah enjoying the tropical serenity with the good novel - the perfect holiday escape! You might not believe you are in Key West!

Secret Villa is, indeed a lovely home; well appointed and in a great location. The staff of Rent Key West continue to be in the top tier for customer service and made sure that there were no problems with our stay. The only reason I cannot give this a five star rating is because of the lack of parking and that we could not figure out how to heat the oven (I did make RKW aware of this upon departure so the issue may now be resolved). However, going back to the parking, RKW was very clear up front that parking was not easy at this property due to it's location down a small street. If you do not need or have a car, it is of no consequence, Fausto's grocery store is literally around the corner as well as all of Duval Street.
We enjoyed our stay in the Secret Villa. The house is very nicely decorated and everything functioned well. The pool is nice, although in typical KW fashion, the plants around the pool are overgrown and could use a bit of trimming back in my opinion. By the way, the pool is actually in the front of the house. Not a big deal, but I was surprised when I opened the front gate and the pool was right there. While the inside of the house has been re-done and is very nice, the deck area is just ok. The location of the house is fantastic, and the rental company (rent key west vacations) was great to work with. Very friendly and very helpful with all concerns. At one point the pool and gate light wasn't working and they had someone over in 15 minutes to fix (breaker switch is located near the pool). Check in was a breeze and Steve was helpful (and fun to work with) throughout the whole process Only downside of the trip was there were more than a couple bugs in the house. I know that controlling bugs is tricky in a tropical environment, but this seemed a bit excessive. A couple other comments about other reviews. There was no issue with the fridge keeping food cold. The birds next store can be a bit loud during the day, but if anything it just added to the tropical atmosphere. Overall I think this was a nice place at a great location. Outside of the bugs in the house, we had a great trip and would consider staying here again.
The house was very comfortable. You felt like you were in your house not renting. The location was great. We walked everywhere and I mean everywhere! The bird sanctuary was not bothersome at all. It was a great trip.
I recently traveled to Key West for a week's stay in the Secret Villa with a group of friends. We had a great time. The house is beautiful and you honestly can't beat the location. It is right off of Simonton St., which keeps you close to Duval St. Mallory Sq. etc., but is back in it's own lane that provides privacy and relaxation. The house was in immaculate condition. The only minor minor complaint was that some of the towels that were left for us to use, should have probably been replaced with new ones, but honestly - this would not stop me from coming back. The house is next to the secret garden which houses some parrots and other exotic birds. Yes, they can get excited and vocal during the day, but we never minded, and barely noticed! I should add that we could only hear them when we were outside, not inside, which we were outside 90% of the time enjoying the pool or the deck. I would definitely recommend this house!!!
The house was just as nice as the pictures on the website. Everything was clean and just as we had hoped. The pool area wasnt as sunny as we had hoped but it was very private and gave you the tropical feel. I had read previous reviews about the bird sanctuary next door and that it may be a little noisy. We heard them a few times but it wasn't bothersome. The only inconvenience was that the fridge didnt cool like it should. We felt a little uncomfortable with our food. We asked for a repair but it didnt seem to help. This was only a minor inconvenience. I would definitely recommend this house and would stay there again.
The house was like living in a pottery barn catalog - the location was perfect - walking distance to faustos and restaurants - no need for a car!!! Free school lane was scheduled and mostly quiet - the first weekend we where there a bunch of college kids where in the house next store - Music was crazy loud and annoying - but it was memorial day weekend - the rest of the time quiet. Three things that needed to be provided better - Paper supplies - toilet and towels where not enough for the time there - recycling - they should leave information on when and where recycling goes - the pool - the filter seemed to not work very well - we did call and they came and cleaned the pool - otherwise i would stay at this house again -if i could i would buy it !!! Rental Key west was accomidating and great to deal with . Thanks for a great vacation!
Everything was fine, We had no Problems. Location was great, and the house was great. (Could use a dresser in the downstirs bedroom.)
Overall...I think we preferred previous years at Casa De Cuba. We were just disappointed that the rental company was not aware construction would be occurring in the neighborhood. I feel that just like a hotel would notify guests of construction, the rental companies should be aware of community development at their properties. There's a difference between general neighborhood noise and actual demolition work with materials being thrown into a dump truck 2 ft. from our back patio.
We would like to thank this guest for returning back and renting with Rent Key West Vacations for a third time. Unfortunately, any home located in a residential area, is prone to local construction without any notice given to us or any rental company. The heavist part of the construction, located in the next door neighboring Secret Garden, is now completed .
Location was fabulous, lack of a private parking space was a drawback. . Dissappionted that the pool heater wasn't turn on earlier, having the extra fee for each day, I felt that the heater should of been turned on sooner with our anticipated arrival. I assume it was turned on just before our check it time, because the water was still extemley cold when we got to the house. I understand it takes times for temperatures to rise, But by the morning and for the remainder of our stay the temp was had greatly improved and was lovely, we did try and enjoy the pool on the first evening there, but it was still much too cold to be fully enjoy . The house was surrounded by tropical trees and plants, and it was a pleasant retreat andnice contrast to the rest of keywest commercial areas. I very much enjoyed the bird santuary next door, I had read other reviews that complained about swaking birds, But it wasn't a bother at all, we only heard them once in the late afternoon, but after talking to the owner she informed us they get put in every night and that they will often become more excited around feeding time. I can't blame them I myself get a little more vocal when I want feed, but if it wasn't for the Sign on the end of the gate, I probably wouldn't of even noticed they were there. The house was newly remodled and was perfect for us, I would definately consider staying here again if we ever return to the area. My only regret is not having dined at Sarabeth's for breakfast, it was so close to the house, we just never made it there.
My husband and I are seasoned KW vacationers and we have rented quite a few houses and condos on the island. This house was one of our favorites! Great location, quiet and clean! Wish there was parking (at least for one car). Parking close to the property is very hard to find, if you're not a resident. I would recommend this rental!
The Secret Villa house was an amazing house. Very comfortable and close to everything. The best part is there is a grocery store less than a block away so you can get anything you need without a car. We paid to have the pool heated which was worth the money. When we first got there the heat wasn't turned on. When we called to let the rental company know they sent someone out that day. It's a beautiful property that made me feel right at home in Key West. I would definitely recommend this house.
The location was perfect, within a few block walk to everything. The location at the end of the lane was very private. Great layout of the home for a family or a group of friends. The pool area was very relaxing.
Great hideaway at the end of the lane, next to bird sanctuary. Quiet and lovely. Beautifully decorated, spacious home with all the amenities. Outside deck with bbq and pool, perfect for entertaining. Within walking distance, one block north of Duvall St. No need to rent a car at this location. In the historic district. Grocery store and antique shops right around the corner. Fine dining at Marquesa restaurant right around the corner, for supper hour.
The check in was easy, house was clean and had alot of items to make the stay pleasant. Location was in a great place for where we wanted to be. Areas of improvement: alot of lights were burned out- gate, pool, internal house lights, pool chairs were broken and not usable that made it hard to enjoy the pool. Bugs were an issue in house looked like flying ants or termites
Great house! Love the location and privacy. You can occationally hear the parrots next door, but it was never a problem and at times cool.
We stayed here for a guys fishing weekend with friends traveling in from around the globe. It was a short walk to all of the Duval St fun and quiet place to retreat to and relax after having it...
We absolutely loved this house. The location next to the Parrot sanctuary may not be for everyone but we thought it was the ultimate Key West experience. The house was recently renovated and had everything we needed. The only complaint that we had was the downstairs shower head. It really needs to be replaced. Other than that, the folks at Rent Key West were extremely friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay at this property again!
Great house for my party of 6 adults. We were extremely satisfied with the house, the grounds and the location. Couple of things to mention though. The towel supply really wasn't adequate, especially on the wash towels. Each bath only had 2, so that meant we had to wash more often than we wanted to, seemed a waste of water and electricity for such a small item. Secondly, the house had an odor, similiar to someone smoking in the house. We bought air freshner spray to try to mask the odor. These were small things and on a scale of 1 to 10 - this house rated a 9 with me.
Accomodating location. Property in good condition and all things working. No Parking at property which is inconveniant and expensive off sight.
Secret Villa is in an ideal location to all activities in Key West and there is no real need for a car (no parking space)- a bike is more than sufficient. The Villa is on the market for sale and has seen better days. The yard was way over grown especially around the pool. Inside, many of the tiles were cracked and broken and were a real threat to the feet. The carpeting was very dirty and worn. On the plus side, the bedrooms were great and the upstairs deck was a nioe addition. On the negative side- the house has to be completely closed and locked everytime you leave as were did have a theft of money while there. We later learned that this was not an isolated event and that due to the secluded nature of this Villa it has been marked as a target before. The management needs to repair the lock on the gate (broken and no key) and needs to let the tennants know of the need to be on guard. Another issue was the Parrot gardens next door- home for displaced parrots. While very cute, they are VERY noisy to the point of not being able talk above. All in all, it was a pleasureable stay, but for the price it needs some upgrading and some security additions.
Since this review was made the Secret Villa experienced a major renovation which includes new wood floors, furniture, linens and appliances. The front gate now locks. The house is located at the end of a quiet lane in Old town, Key West. It's right next to the 'Secret Garden' which is a large, lush garden with caged birds. The proximity gives the house a feel like you are staying in the middle of some far away, tropical jungle.
the house was very comfortable, great kitchen bedrooms and bath, wonderful having the private pool in your own front yard, close to everything down town just a block away from groceries and the Duval Crawl. The Gardens next door do get a little noisy every afternoon with the birds if your trying to rest it won't happen . overall though a great time thanks Brenda
The rental place was fantastic!. Garden,pool and location were all perfect. One warning regarding the housekeeping. When we first entered the house, the floors were filthy. My son was still crawling at the time and we had to wash the floors because his clothing and hands were coming out black from the dirt. Be sure to alert your rental agent upon arriving. We cleaned and followed the rules of clean up before leaving, but were charged a penalty fee by the wonderful housekeeper for not cleaning my sons fingerprints off the patio doors!Tainted our experience.
We had stayed at the house about 2 years ago but RentKeyWest was definitely a better rental agent. We could tell that things were done to the property to make it better. The pool was so much cleaner than last time. We especially appreciated how quickly a maintenance man can to replace one of the shower heads. We are already planning on coming back in 2 years. sincerely, Denise Ei
HAVE BEEN TO KEY WEST OVER 20 TIMES AND DECIDED TO BRING THE MOTHERS AND KIDS SO CHOSE THE SECRET VILLA. IT WAS CENTRALLY LOCATED TO ALL ACTIVITIES AND LOCATED IN THE HEART OF OLD TOWN. IT WAS WELL MAINTAINED AND THE POOL IS NICE. I WOULD RENT THIS PLACE AGAIN IF WOULD RETURN WITH THE FAMILY. PLENTY OF BEDROOM AND LIVING ROOM SPACE.
