Fantastic location combined with casual elegance makes this Key West cottage a great retreat to experience! And the historic seaport is just steps away with many restaurants, boating activities, historic sights & shops to keep you busy all day! Behind the front fence of the property you can park your car and leave the world behind as you step through the tropical foliage to enter the home from the wonderful pool courtyard. Casa Margarita is beautifully decorated with warm colors, sophisticated furnishings with tropical accents. The living room and dining room are combined with the open kitchen with glass opening to the pool and backyard. A large covered gazebo is your outdoor living room to enjoy all day long. Despite being so near to the Historic Seaport, it is a quiet residential neighborhood. There are three bedrooms to choose from. The master has a queen size bed with it's own bath ensuite. The two other bedrooms each have two twin beds. One of the rooms has a bathroom ensuite as well. This property has been recently purchased and the new owners are putting a great deal of time and energy into making this a great getaway. Bedding: 1 queen, 4 twins
Overall, this was a great house for us. My family (me, my husband, and two small boys) traveled with my brother, his wife, and my aunt. The location was great, as we were in walking distance (even with a 3-year old and an infant) of just about everything but the beach. We cooked most of our meals at the house, and the kitchen had everything we needed, including both a gas and charcoal grill. There is a washer and dryer, which came in very handy and allowed us to travel with a little less than normal. There is 3 bedrooms, two of which have two twin beds and another with a queen. This was a bit of downside for our group, as we would have preferred 2 queens, but of course, we knew that beforehand. The queen bed and one of the twin bedrooms have newer, comfortable mattresses. The third bedroom, which my husband and I slept in with our baby, has two creaky, old and uncomfortable mattresses. When you combine that with the chickens who liked to spend half the night cackling (right outside our window), I didn't sleep as well as I would have liked. But that really was a minor problem compared to all of the positives that come with the house. The pool was a perfect size, and we spent many days lounging around it. The tropical vegetation and fence made for a very private backyard, and when my son got his first glance in the daylight, he said, "Look mommy, a jungle!" The pool deck does need to be repaired in a few places. Overall, we had a great trip, and the house suited our group very well.
A hard property to properly review, I'll try to explain. First of all, we rented during Fantasy Festival, the biggest event of the year in Key West. Accordingly, the rental rate is about twice the normal rate. I think the normal rate for any other time of the year would be a good value, but twice the rate is a bit obscene, although I realize there is very high demand for accommodations during this week. (In other words, they all do it.) The second issue is the age of the property. I understand it is a common practice in Key West to purchase old houses in the downtown area, and "put on a new face". This is such a property, and they have done a good job. It is not very fancy, and the age is obvious, but also is the owner's attempt to put a little love and care into their property. The location is good, with only a short walk to the marina and Duval Street. The pool is very nice, although the decking is showing some age. While the daytime light shows the property's age, the accent lighting around the pool and decking at night makes the area look rather stunning. We found the property to be clean and met all our needs. A plus is that it has a private off-street parking spot. We might even rent again next year.
Rent Key West relocated us to this property at the last minute, and boy were we happy! The home was in the perfect place to get to warf/marina, Duval Street, bike rental, great restaurants and anywhere we wanted to go. We appreciated having wifi and 3 bathrooms and the pool, even though we did not use it - we loved the covered porch and the pretty courtyard. The kitchen was very well stocked. The aC worked great. Only suggestions would be to upgrade bed to a king and perhaps remove a few of the Nick-knacks - but that is just a personal preference. The staff at RKW was very friendly and accommodating and we would recommend them to other travellers. We are also grateful that the owner of the property was able to allow us to move in to the home at the last minute. We recommend the sunset cruise on the schooner ship, the trip to the Dry tortugas, and the fishing charter on the Discretion - docked right behind the Schooner bar. Great Cuban coffee stand one block away. Key west was an awesome time for all!
The house was perfect for 6 people. It was very private and a great location. We loved it!
Place was a little small for my five children (23,21,7,5,3)as for indoor living space. The outdoor space was incredible and since Key West is an outdoor vacation, that made up for the lack of interior space. The location is perfect. I have stayed at 20 different locations in Key West and this was our favorite. Since we go for lobster diving, being right next to the dock is paramount. Could have been cleaner but all things being said I would consider staying there again.
My family (me, wife, 18 yrs son, 14 yrs son) and a family friend (17yrs) went to Key West to revisit our favorite old haunts and do some scuba diving. The kids were recently certified. The home was a block away from Lost Reef Dive Center so; walking to the dives was great. Duval is a short walk away as is Mallory Dock. The seating inside the house could be improved but, the pool and outside seating were great. The home is secluded by palms and other growths that limits any view of neighboring homes and provide a very private feel. The main access door is a slider that is pretty worn out from overuse and should be replaced.
The accommodations were the best. We would definitely rent again.
Great location--close to waterfront! Outdoor living space/pool area was fabulous! Very clean and comfortable.
We had a terrific stay in this gem of a house. A 5 minute walk to Duval St. and a 1 minute walk to the marina. Hanging out around the pool listening to music almost made us not even want to go the 5 minutes. Awesome
My friends and I have rented this property on 3 different ocassions and have always had a good experience with this property. The location is just where we like to be, the pool area gets nice sun throughout the day, and the property is always neat.
The location was great everything was in walking distance or scooters. The house was very private...in the pictures it shows that the palm trees are kinda small, but they are huge and give you completer privacy. The only complaint is that the house dosen't stay that cool. Rent Key West was very easy work with. No complaints. will be staying here again.
Overall it was a good experience, our second time staying there:) There was an issue with the pool filter and a leaky pipe that made LOTS of noise but we figured out how to turn off the filter during the day and had it run at night instead - a good thing to point out to other renters until it's fixed! Also, the place needs new pillows on all beds - really, they are bad:(. Other than those two things, no complaints - as good as we expected it to be!
Three Family members and their spouses stayed at Casa Margarita for a week in February 2010. We all liked the house very much--3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms-kitchen had all the amenities that you needed The main attraction is the Location....near the marina and Duval street..walking distance to both. The outside back-yard area was wonderful with pool and covered area for shade. However, the biggest draw-back was the wood decking around the pool--wood was broken and was very dangerous to walk on in certain area--this decking definitely need repair. It was a wonderful trip!
The deck has been repaired and painted since these guests checked out.
I have stayed in key west at least 50 times and this was the best house and rental I have had yet. I will for sure stay here next time again
Brad was very helpful with questions and communications. The house was FABULOUS for the family vacation. There were LOTS of plates, glasses, silverware, good cookware so there was no shortage of anything in the kitchen. The outdoor patio offered shade all day. In the patio there was plenty of seating and a dining area-- All by the pool. It was in a quiet area and within walking/biking distance of Mallory Square and Duval St. This is a great house for summer vacations. You could walk to most restaurants or prepare meals at home. The sliding glass doors open to the pool area and because of this the heat is an issue in the afternoon. The air conditioner unit needs to be larger to cool that area of the house. The pool is well maintained and needs a "railing" to help the older guests get out of the pool. The commode in the master bedroom sticks and runs water continously, unless you jiggle the handle. On the whole everythiing was well maintained. clean, and in good working order.
What was important to us when renting a house in KW in July was having a clean pool, comfortable outside area to hang out, working A/C, good location and clean living space. Casa Margarita was very private but yet close to all of the great things that KW has to offer. The pool was very clean and the outside area was very relaxing and tropical. All the things you want from a rental! We rented our bikes from Re-Cylcle and they were very friendly and delivered the bikes to the house. This was the first family vacation we had taken in years and Casa Margarita was the perfect house to rent. We will definitely be renting there again. Also, KW Rentals were very professional and responsive. I would highly recommend them and Casa Margarita to anyone that wants to rent a house in KW!
The house was clean and had a great lay out. The outdoor living space was wonderful... highlighted by the fantastic pool which was bigger than we thought about 18'x18'. The patio door lock was tricky but not a big deal. It is 1 block from Finnegan's Wake and 1 block from Pepe's & BO's. If buying a lot of groceries you'll need a cab back from Fausto's which is probably 8 blocks. The RentKW team was very easy to work with. We highly recommend!
We rented this property for Thanksgiving 2 years in a row. 3 bedrooms / 3 baths with a great layout. Pool is large especially by Key West standards and there's plenty of outdoor deck space including a dining area. While it is close to the seaport restaurants and bars the property is quiet and peaceful. We were never disturbed by noise. The service by Rent Key West Vacations was and always has been exceptional. I have lost count of the number of times I have rented with them. Maybe 10? I've never been disappointed in their service.
Our family was very impressed with how clean and family friend the Casa margaita was to stay in. We loved how well stocked the kitchen was and how the sheets smelled so fresh! There was also mini bananas on the counter when we arrived. The pool was nice but very small, which I guess is a Key West thing. Everything is very close in walking distance and we loved our stay.
3 couples from Fort Myers, FL have been visiting Casa Margarita for several years, we try and go both in May & September. We stay for a week to 10 days and it is the most relaxing place ever. The location is perfect for us as we love Old Town and generally walk or ride our bikes everywhere (Eaton Bike Rental is only a block away). The home accomodates us nicely and we use the outside veranda area every day for games & dining. nything negative??? If you are traveling with 6 and love TV this is not the place - the living area is a little small. The home is great and so is the rental agency - they are johnny on the spot if anything comes up. Enjoy!
This was our third time renting this place - it is in one of my favorite locations - near the waterfront - you can walk to a lot of places from here or get on a bike and easily get to Duval Street. The backyard of this place is great - huge deck, great pool, covered lanai, very private with tropical foliage everywhere. Bedrooms and baths are not luxurious, but very functional - three of us stayed and each had their own bedroom and bathroom. If you want to cook, the kitchen is well equipped, and the Waterfront Market with its fresh seafood is a block away. And, if you have a car, you can't beat the off-street parking. We even picked up free wi-fi for our laptop from one of the neighboring locations.
Rent KW vacations were professionals from the beginning. They enabled us to get into the property early in the day because our flight brought us to Key West in the morning. The house was perfect for 4 of us. It was spotless & had everything we needed. The outside area was better than any hotel in Key West offered. We had our own pool, covered patio area, tables to eat outside & plenty of lounging areas. We have always stayed at a high end hotel in Key West in the past but hopefully will never need to again. I will only rent from KW vacations in the future
Casa Margarita had everything you could need for a great vacation. The house was fully furnished and very nicely decorated. While the house itself is small, it is still able to have 3 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. The outdoor pool was perfect for a day in the sun (or shade with all of the overhangs!). The stereo system outdoors was great! The location is perfect. We were walking distance from the Harbor (about 2 blocks), and walking distance from all the excitement on Duval Street (about 4-5 blocks). The only complaint I can think of was that the door locks were not working correctly, which caused a few issues. Everything else about the stay was perfect. I highly recommend this house!
