Thoughtfully restored, Havana Lane, hearkens back to a time when cigar makers lived in the neighborhood, gathering on porch stoops to pass on the latest news. Near the notorious Key West Cemetery this classic conch cottage, embodies the essence of rustic charm while offering modern amenities and style. Centrally located in an Old Town residential neighborhood the cottage is just a few blocks away from the White Street Art District. For shopping and nightlife, you can easily walk or bike to Duval Street and the Historic Seaport. Dade County Pine walls and eclectic artwork compliment the artistic design of this tropical cottage. With two bedrooms, an open-air design living, dining and kitchen space, the cottage comfortably accommodates up to 4 people. The cathedral ceilings enhance the open feel of the cottage as do the stylish french doors that open out to the multilevel deck. The deck boasts tropical foliage and an inviting free form swimming pool, perfect for relaxing and relishing in your vacation. Whether lazing with a good book in the cozy living room, cooking up freshly caught fish in the sizable kitchen, or sunbathing on the deck amidst the hibiscus, Havana Lane is a charming and casual Key West retreat.

We loved staying at Havana Lane. The home is very authentic Key West, makes you feel like a local. Too far from Duval for walking but we had bikes for the week and really enjoyed being able to "escape" to our Havana Lane when we were ready to relax by the pool. We are looking forward to going back and will definitely go back to Havana Lane.
What a delight when you open the gate to 1 Havana Lane. Pool is a good size and very pretty, garden is beautiful. Property is very quiet with no traffic noise, apart from planes. The house was very clean on arrival with adequate linens/towels and kitchen was well equipped with ample glasses and crockery. An instruction book for the house would have helped as we were unable to turn on the heat for the jacuzzi and also failed with the grill. The location is very good with Higgs beach, which was our favourite, just a 10 min walk away. Duval St and Bahama Village also easily walkable at night. Service from rental company was very good.
The house was in a great location; centrally located so everything is about the same distance away. However, the house itself was more like a cabin, a bit rustic and run-down. Nothing wrong with cabins, but I guess I wasn't expecting that. There were several things that lacked attention: 1. There were a mass of ants crawling out of a wall socket when we first arrived. We had to spray for two days to get rid of them, and even then, we were finding them periodically throughout the house. (I hope we didn't bring any home.) 2. Unfortunately, the hot tub was not working until Tuesday afternoon (3 days after checking in); however, once it was fixed, it was very nice. 3. The A/C wall unit in one of the rooms never worked correctly. It would shut off after 15 minutes of use, so the room heated up fast during warm days. I called several times about it, but no one could figure out how to fix the problem. Luckily, we didn't have to use it too often because the weather was pretty nice. 4. T
One Havana Lane is like having your own little "Paradise" within Paradise (Key West). The backyard is like being in the Garden of Eden. All the varieties of plants with your own pool and jacuzzi in a completely private setting made our stay very nice. If you want to get some good R&R this is the place. Only downside to this property is it doesn't come with a parking space so we always had to park our rental car a block or more away from the home.
This is our third year staying at One Havana Lane and it is quite possible that it will be our last. Beautiful garden, nice pool, relatively quiet (but after all, it's Key West). The house itself is suffering from lack of maintenance. Pool lights don't work, outside timer lights were off-cycle and exterior timer switches were difficult and even dangerous to access. Pool floor is cracked and crumbling in one spot. Floor tile missing in bathroom, wood veneer flooring starting to peel. Kitchen not as well outfitted (does anyone survey what has gone missing, and then replace it?). No dishwasher detergent. DVD player (key for our kids) was missing but the office replaced immediately --excellent service by RentKW! Some initiative by homeowner to improve and then to maintain property would be nice.
Havana Lane house is definetely one of those fun, colorful Key West Homes. Unfortunately, before this guest checked in, Key west experienced a power outage and threw off the outside light timer. The pool was re-surfaced two years ago though it will always have a few chips and cracks on the bottom. The pool light is working now. Yes, there are some imperfections with the house so if your looking for a new home in perfect condition, this house may not be for you. If you want lots of Key West color and personality, Havana lane is the perfect house for you
The location is relatively close to Duval St. and Truman, with little disruptive street noise. This property is on the flight path, so the occasional jet overhead took some getting used to. Not too bad - they usually don't start until about 10:00 AM. The yard is private (not easy to find in Key West)and heavily landscaped with tropical plantings. There is a nice, small heated pool and a hot tub which stopped working toward the end of our visit - maybe due to low water level? The house was fine, but quirky - lots of salvaged wood siding throughout and creative tile work in the bathrooms. We couldn't get the wall AC unit to work in one of the bedrooms, but didn't need it - leaving the windows open at night worked pretty well the time of year we stayed.
WOW! We have been to KW many times in the past but this was by far our most memorable experience. Working with the folks at rentkw was pleasant and easy experience. Everything was exactly as advertised. It took us 5 minutes to check-in & even less for check-out. We had a special need during our stay and they had someone at the house within an hour. Havana Lane was an unbelievable 10 day getaway. We used the private, jungle like setting, pool every day and night. Yes, I said jungle like. We even had fresh bananas growing over the hot tub. We caught mahi-mahi on a private charter and had a wonderful cookout on the backyard grill with friends. The interior was clean and provided every amenity that we needed. The location was great as well. We were off the crowded downtown streets but a close walk to all of the nightlife & ambiance that KW has to offer. We look forward to an even more extended stay at Havana Lane very soon. Duke & Peggy, Lansdowne, VA
Our second year of renting #1 Havana Lane after many years in hotels, condos & timeshares in Key West. Havana Lane is a little off the beaten path, but the grounds are so private that it's worth it - I can't imagine staying anywhere else. Love the fact that there is a pool and a hot tub, and the foliage is fantastic. The house itself is so "Key West" - it has it's quirks, but just adds to the charm. We did have the refrigerator go out, but we called and they took care of it immediately - great service. I would highly recommend renting through Rent Key West Vacations. I will be back in fall 2009 for just a short stay, but hope to use them again, and I will be back in May or June 2010 and plan to rent #1 Havana Lane again.
This is the second time we have rented Havana Lane and with one minor exception, it was a great experience both times. The exception is that the termites were flying around and my wife hates bugs. We live in Florida so we understand. I anticipate renting this property many more times in the future. In addition, I have to commend the service provided by Rent Key West. they made the entire experience seamless.
Havana Lane was simply the best vacation property I have ever had the pleasure to rent. And I have traveled a lot. If you like Key West and want something out of the ordinary in the heart of Old Town but just off the beaten path of chain hotels and the bussel of Duval Street, this is the place. The location is perfect. Close enough to everything so that you can bike with ease. Far enough away for some peace and privacy. While the location is grand, the home itself is cozy and inviting. We found ourselves content just laying around the pool at times during our stay loading up on light groceries and drinks. We have rented from rent Key West before and we were happy with their service once again, Best vacation ever!
The home was everything as promised. The pool heat was not working, but was fixed very quickly. We stayed Christmas week and it was quite pricey, but it was fantastic. We now stay in Key Largo all winter because it is price a bit lower, but this house rocks.
As soon as we unlocked the gate to the high wooden fence surrounding 1 Havana Lane, we knew we had picked a gem of a place to stay for Spring Break. My husband and I came to Key West with our 15 year-old daughter and her friend. The home was perfect for us four, and we enjoyed being there almost as much as going out and about the island. We called the yard our "Secret Garden." It was so lush and made the yard feel very private. We enjoyed the pool - which we kept heated - every day. The home was very comfortable and decorated with character and flair. We enjoyed the TV and MP3 player, and my daughter appreciated being able to go on the Internet on her laptop. The rental office staff people were flexible and friendly - we felt like individuals, not just another rental family. We could have been closer to the water, but the trade- off of having this lovely home was worth it. My only concern is that future vacations elsewhere will now be compared to our stay at 1 Ha
Three friends and myself looked forward to Havana Lane for months and months. It sounded wonderful and looked beautiful in the photographs. We arrived there and it was horrible. A neighbor yelled that we'd have to go around to the side to enter (as there was a bike blocking the door--probably the neighbors?), the pool bottom was broken up and chards of concrete all around. The hot tub had a 'broken' sign on it and the place looked uncared for. Once we got inside, we knew we had to leave. The place looked, felt, and smelled bad. To make a long story short, we called Rent Key West and within the hour we were moved into the nicest diggs I have ever vacationed in. Two-story townhome, 1/2 block off Duval. I was impressed with the customer service, the quick action taken on their part and the fantastic townhome they delivered to us. We almost cried when we had to leave it. I would definitely use Rent Key West again!!
