Located just a step away from Old Town area surrounded by coconut palms and blooming bougainvilleas this charming one bedroom bungalow is a true island hideaway .The bungalow features an one level open space living/dinning area, full kitchen and a spacious bedroom with a king size bed. There is a nice private deck overlooking a tropical garden area , large shared swimming pool and a small fish pond. Convenient location and a quiet atmosphere makes this a perfect place to relax in the comfort of the home away from home. Bedding: 1 king , 1 sleeping sofa
All expectations were met but the unit needed better airconditioning to reduce the musty smell from the humidity in the unit.
Great location. Extremely clean. Loved the decor. Very spacious. Only tweaking needed - need curtains on bedroom windows to block out light from outside walkway at night. Air conditioner in bedroom needs adjustment - very loud when it kicks in - But one in kitchen cooled enough for both rooms at night.
Great little 1 bedroom cottage that is clean, well maintained and off the busy streets. well equiped for a great stay. The bedroom could use some blinds if you're not an early riser.
The house was great.Very clean, close to everything. Very safe. You need to look into more parking and work on the lighting that comes into the house at night. Very bright...
We stayed at the Colony Poolside for a week in august 2011. The rental company was extremely helpful and accommodating. The location was a couple of blocks from Duval street in a very safe and quiet neighborhood and very close to many fine restaurants and entertainment establishments. The unit itself was very clean and perfect for 2 people. The glassblock window in the bedroom could use a curtain or blind of some kind as it was very bright early in the morning. The unit had two flat screen televisions and a roomy living area. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, plates, pots, and pans, etc. The pool was very nice with more than an adequate number of chairs for guests. I would certainly consider staying here again. For me, it was centrally located but far enough away to "get away from it all."
We stayed in The Colony poolside and were very pleased with the quality of the unit. The only downside to the unit was the air conditioner(bedroom)which made it almost imposible to sleep. It was very convient to everything, but far enough away from the noise. As I read before, one day that a group not staying there was at the pool drinking and cursing. At first I wasn't sure if they were staying there but later found out it was a neighbor that takes advantage of the property. If you stay here don't hesitate to close the compound door which is found open to much. Rent Key West was great, they came out on Sunday to replace the smaoke alarm battery which was two stories up. They also accomidated us with a late check out.
We had a great stay. It was very clean and roomy. King size bed! Nice pool and great location. Close to Duval Street but very quiet. The only thing missing was a gas grill.
Very nice accommodations with great amenities. Also, great walking distance to Duval and halfway between Southernmost point and Mallory Square, which is very convenient. Fyi, if you need to do laundry make sure you have quarters. Overall a great trip, I will definitely book here again!
We had a wonderful vacation to key west. Colony poolside was a great place to stay. The unit was very clean, open, and gave a taste of key west living. The pool right outside the door was great! Our only reason for not making it a five star is that the master bedroom needs blackout curtains for all windows We had to hang blankets up because the neighbors porch lights make it very bright in the room. Also, parking is very sparse which is a common theme in key west. The refrigerator had rust all over the front which was not pretty but not a big deal to us. Overall, however, a wonderful place to stay for the price, excellent location, and we would definitely stay here again!!!
Everything about this place was great. The only improvement I can suggest is that curtains be installed on the window and doors in the bedroom (the bright sun in the morning made it hard to sleep in!). The only negative was that we met a person at the pool who was not renting any of the units at the Colony, but owned a property elsewhere in Key West. Their property was managed by one of the same rental companies that managed some of the other units in the Colony. Since this person did not have a pool where their property was located, they were allowed by this managing rental company to use the Colony pool. We were not happy that an outside family with kids was allowed to share the pool that was already shared by 10 units. Other than that, everything was great and we would definitely stay there again.
The allowing of outside guest to use the pool in not a practice of ours. If that it's the first time we heard of this so this is not a common occurrence
This was a great bungalow. The basics were all there, clean, comfy decor, all kithchen amenities. It's a great lay out. The bed and pillows were super comfy. We slept late everyday. The bungalow had enough room to hang out inside, a small deck to sit on, but best we were steps from the pool. There were no loud guests, so even though some stayed late in the pool we weren't bothered. Parking is tight in their lot, rent small! However, due to location we parked and walked everywhere. It's a little closer to Blue Heaven and El Siboney restaurants than it is to Mallory Square. The check in staff was quick and helpful. Had a nice package of information with suggestions for bars and restaurants that someone first going would need/want. We will use this rental service and if we can this bungalow next time we are in Key West.
This cottage was very roomy and clean and just super cute.
I've stayed in several of the units at the Colony and the Poolside is one of the best locations. The fact that it recently has been renovated makes it, for me, the best unit in the group. I was concerned about being too close to the pool, but it wasn't a problem at all. On top of that, Rent Key West Vacations manages it, which, in my experience, is the best rental agency in Key West (and I visit several times a year.) My only gripe is that the designer has a thing for pillows, which end up getting tossed on the floor. (I don't need 15 pillows on either the bed or couch.) Obviously, it's a minor complaint.
Colony Poolside was an exceptionally perfect vacation rental. The bungalow was adorable, clean and well furnished. The location in Old Town was really convenient to everything. We parked the car and rode bikes the entire week! I would suggest tighter security for the common (pool) area, however. One morning we had a homeless man doing his laundry and twice a family (that was not renting a unit @ Colony) showed up and shamelessly enjoyed our pool!!!
The Colony Complex now has a locked common area door that only guests get a copy of the key upon check-in
It is the second year we have stayed in this bunglow and will try to book it again for next year. We have found our nitch after the 20 years we have been vacationing in Key West. It would be nice to have a grill
We were very pleased with the accomodations. The unit was just exceptional! Clean, comfortable, convenient, well decorated and layed out. No complaints at all!
The cottage is very comfortable, nicely decorated and clean. Yes, the wine opener is still there. Unfortunately we had several problems; TV did not work first day, sugar ants were on kitchen cabinets and handle in shower came off. These items were rectified when reported. Parking a car is impossible as only 4 or 5 spaces on property. Street parking is mostly reserved for Resident's Only Parking. We managed and were always on the street. Seven Fishes Restaurant was good and so close. Duffy's was also good and easy walk. For winter guests, there is a small heater in closet that we were not aware. Could have used it first two nights. Nice place, no stairs and convenient to attractions. Make sure to take Conch Train to see the entire area.
The Rent KW cabanas at 714 Olivia are simply superb. The accommodation is charming, comfortable and very well-equipped. The location is ideal, an easy stroll to fine dining, fun dining - or the beach! Only the nicest people seem to stay there, so the neighbours are good news. Most of all it's a blissful escape from the hurly burly of the 21st century!
had a great time the unit was newly remodled or seemed so. pool was great unit was within easy walking distance of duval st. great sea food restrauant a block away[Sevan fish]. We will Definatly be coming back. My Idea what Key West is about.
Our stay could not have been better, the cottage was spotless, the bed was clean and comfortable, and we met some wonderful people while we were there. the location was great we were able to walk to just about everything. we are planning on going back there again.
Recently, my sister and I took a week long vacation to Key West and stayed at the Colony Poolside. The place was great for the 2 of us. The location was prefect, about 3 1/2 short blocks above Duval Street so it was quiet, but close to the action. The times we didn't want to walk up the block we took a bike-cab. The house was clean and looked freshly painted and decorated, (a ocean-theme, very cute.) We had to purchase our own toilet paper and a wine bottle opener, so when you stay there say thanks and think of us when you open that bottle of wine! Jane & Amy
We stayed in Key West for five days and found the accommodations very updated, clean and accessible to all the attractions. The staff at Rent Key West were helpful and informative and the check in process was very flexible. Having a pool to relax by when you didn't want to go to a more populated beach was great. Kitchen was fully stocked and lessened our expenses by being able to cook great meals at home. Finding parking in the area can be tricky as it is a residential neighborhood, but it never took us more than a five minute walk. We would definitely come back to the Colony poolside!
The first survey sent must not have gone through. After 16 years of vacationing in Key West this place would be our first pick for next year. Loved the fully equiped kitchen and cottage decor. It would of been nice to have a telephone (just got my cell phone bill - Yikes. Also did not totally understand Direct TV - could not get a signal at all in bedroom. Would have liked floaties for pool. Would of liked a grill.
My husband and I absolutely loved your facitlities. The only thing we would change is having a one floor condo. I have a bad back and it was difficult to go up and down the stairs. But thankfully there was another restroom down, so I limited my trips up the stairs. The condo was clean, beautiful and comfy!!! We will definetly recommend and come back. Thanks for making our stay in Key West wonderful.
The colony poolside was much more than we expected. Our friends stayed there and recommended it to us. The cabana had everything we needed, was clean and comfortable (TV in living room was fuzzy, but it really wasn't that big of a deal) It was a quiet and cozy rental area, close to DuVall Street, but back out of the way. We rented bikes when we arrived and rode them for the entire 6 days we were there -- best choice for transportation while you are there. We had a fabulous trip and will be back, staying at the Colony Poolside. What I liked least about it....we had to go home!
We had a wonderful time. The cottage was very nice, a little repair could be done, but to be expected for a place that is rented out week after week. Clean, cool, beautiful grounds. Great pool. Management company was wonderful. We will definitely return!
Our accommodations were excellent--roomy, attractive, comfortable--centrally located. We beached, swam, sailed, cruised out sea and snorkeled, did a ghost tour, visited museums and roughly 20 restaurants--all from a very leisurely bike-ride or walking. It is a city i will return to and a company insist upon using. The easiest vacation getaway I have ever had.
We have traveled to Key West several times. We usually stay in one of the chain hotels. This time we decided to try one of the cottage rentals close to downtown to have the ultimate key west experience. The cottage was very comfortable, cozy, clean, and very convenient to all the things downtown that are happening everyday. We were able to walk back and forth to Duval St. The pool was clean and warm. It was a great stay and we would do it again.
I am torn between 2 stars and 3 stars. Cleanliness was the missing factor. It was unfortunate to find a large cockroach in the toilet bowl on arrival. But one can understand that sort of thing happening. However, the kitchen tiles never looked clean; the grouting in particular needed a good scrub. The bedroom furnishings were dusty. The pool area was never sparkling. And neither was the pool. All in all the place conveyed a feeling of 'grottiness' (look it up). It was a reasonable location, easy to walk or drive to beaches and restaurants. Car parking was reasonable. I like Key West. I wish I had spent a few dollars more for a better place. Next time I will.
This cottage has just undergone a major renovation, including new kitchen cabinetry, bedding and a fresh coat a paint throughout. The grounds and pool are maintained twice a week. The cottage is serviced by an exterminator once a month. Unfortunately, bugs can be an occasional intrusion when living in the tropics. The Colony Poolside Cabana ia an economical alternative which allows guests easy access to all that Old Town Key West has to offer.
We stayed at the colony poolside on Olivia st for the first week of March 2009. The unit is very nice, the layout was open with a large separate bedroom. I liked the fact that we could open the large doors in the morning and get a nice breeze throughout the whole place. The pool has a small sitting area around it, but there are spots for both sun and shade throughout the day. It's really about 4 blocks from upper Duval St - close enough, but not too close. The only complaint we had is the fact that in this unit there are still some of the old vent style windows that do not completely close. This made for very noisy nights between the 3am,3:30am,4am rooster (every night) and all of the construction going on around it early in the mornings. (remember this unit is only 2 blocks from Truman st). It would be an easy fix to change these vents to closeable new windows, and that would have made for a much better stay. We go to Key West to rest/recharge and the noisy nights were a big drawback for us.
After viewing pictures of this cottage on line I was impressed with the layout, decor and proximity to the pool. So, I was looking forward to our stay there. Disappointed is the only word I can use to describe how I felt when we arrived and actually saw this space in person. The pool area and the surrounding grounds were not maintained. The deck patio furniture was filthy and the deck itself had not been cleaned of leaves and other debris. The interior of the cottage appeared neat, however, it really was not clean. In addition to this there was a strong odor that permeated the entire space throughout our stay. I would not recommend this rental to any of my friends.

First I'd like to say that the location of the home was very convenient to everything. But it was old and not very clean. I thought the bed was uncomfortable. The grounds were not well kept, and the pool was cold so that I could not use it. Not worth the money. The thing I liked the best was the location as well as the fact that it was private and quiet. If you are looking for luxury though, I would not recommend.
We flew to Miami then drove down to Key West for our anniversary. We were thrilled with our accommodation and surroundings - such a beautiful little piece of paradise. Unfortunately, the day after we arrived, we were under a mandatory evacuation due to Tropical Storm Fay. After talking to a number of locals, we decided to hunker down and take our chances. We stocked up on candles, canned food, and lots and lots of wine. As predicted by the locals, the storm passed with little damage. Ironically, it was one of our best trips ever!
